This project is connected to Vestlandsutstillingen; a group show that is touring around the west coast of Norway. This is a sensured, local exhibition that this year is curated by Espen Johanssen. He has chosen one artist for each location, that will create an artwork that is exhibited outside, in connection to the exhibition space. I was lucky to be a part of this journey, and have made an underground sound instrument, that is activated by the rain. I’ve always wanted to make a work that was using the copious amounts of rain here on the west coast of Norway, and now was the time! The work is standing during May and June, just outside the beautiful museum of Ingebrigt Vik (a bit confusing, but these two museums are just next to eachother).&nbsp;------------------ 24.10.21 Metal fountain, soft mountain12.November - 28. November My solo show at Babel Visningsrom for kunst in Trondheim, ended up with the title “metal fountain, soft mountain”, and is a result of a longer reserach of soft metals and soft stones. I’ve been visiting local soap stone quarries around Trondheim (soap stone is a rather fantastic material that has been widely used for its ability to be easily sculpted, and for its ability to keep, and withstand very high heat) as well as local copper mines.. I have been in the metal workshop, and basically I have been bonking copper all.....day.... long.. I am fascinated with shaping copper, because metal is something I generally perceive as something very hard. But working with the material, I’ve been familiar to the fact that everything is relative - and copper is in fact VERY mendable.&nbsp;This is only the start of making an installation, that is exploring the way that copper is effected by time, and it’s envirement. Next step is to combine the copper elements, with porcelaine - and they are going to stand outside for at least 1 year, and see how rain and time will shape the objects. &nbsp; ------------------ 06.06.2020The beginning of 2020 has been turbulent in so many ways; professionally and personally (and I think I am sharing this with the whole globe) - the spring has just rushed through before my eyes. I have finally found a new studio (that I am looking foreward to share with you, as we get further in the process of opening this up) - and would like to give a big thanks to Statens Kunstfond / the Danish Arts Foundation, for supporting me with a working grant. A white rabbit came with a torch, gathered everybody at the festival, and we walked down to the beach. A man from an island in the pacific made a fireshow while drums were playing, and then he took everybody down in the water, along the peer - and set the grassring on fire. I am honoured and proud that one of these fanzines are based on my solo exhibition from March this year, with a text written by Maria Lyngstad Willassen... ------------------ After weeks of travelling along the train tracks, through Russia, Mongolia, China, I flew from Shanghai to Tokyo - and arrived here in Shiro Oni Studio, on the countryside around two hours outside Tokyo. People are extremely friendly, the nature is calm, and the group of artists that will be working individually here, is the such lovely people (we met earlier for another residency in Denmark, and decided to work together again on the other side of the globe). The architecture and culture here is so beautiful, so precise and balanced, I don't know how one could ever make something that could ever be measured with the surroundings here. In a couple of weeks we will fire an anagama-kiln that is situated in the woods (the firing will take 90 hours and we will be working in shifts all day and night). I've been working on it for the last months, and sort of had an ongoing conversation with my self about what kind of qualities that materials have, that you cannot see with vision. Our bodily experience of things give us very complex information about how things are, and I guess I've been trying to figure out how to reach those other aspects that my body can catch unconsciously. After a few hours of driving in some dodgy snow-mountains I installed my work "sot" in the Art house, Kabuso. This project is connected to Vestlandsutstillingen; a group show that is touring around the west coast of Norway. This is a sensured, local exhibition that this year is curated by Espen Johanssen. He has chosen one artist for each location, that will create an artwork that is exhibited outside, in connection to the exhibition space. I was lucky to be a part of this journey, and have made an underground sound instrument, that is activated by the rain. I’ve always wanted to make a work that was using the copious amounts of rain here on the west coast of Norway, and now was the time! The work is standing during May and June, just outside the beautiful museum of Ingebrigt Vik (a bit confusing, but these two museums are just next to eachother).&nbsp; ------------------24.10.21 Metal fountain, soft mountain12.November - 28. November My solo show at Babel Visningsrom for kunst in Trondheim, ended up with the title “metal fountain, soft mountain”, and is a result of a longer reserach of soft metals and soft stones. I’ve been visiting local soap stone quarries around Trondheim (soap stone is a rather fantastic material that has been widely used for its ability to be easily sculpted, and for its ability to keep, and withstand very high heat) as well as local copper mines.. I’m very greatful for being allowed into this process, with support from Babel (the gallery), LKV (the recidency in Trondheim), Kulturrådet+Statens Kunstfond (the economy), friends and family. I have been in the metal workshop, and basically I have been bonking copper all.....day.... long.. I am fascinated with shaping copper, because metal is something I generally perceive as something very hard. But working with the material, I’ve been familiar to the fact that everything is relative - and copper is in fact VERY mendable. This is only the start of making an installation, that is exploring the way that copper is effected by time, and it’s envirement. Next step is to combine the copper elements, with porcelaine - and they are going to stand outside for at least 1 year, and see how rain and time will shape the objects. &nbsp; ------------------ 06.06.2020The beginning of 2020 has been turbulent in so many ways; professionally and personally (and I think I am sharing this with the whole globe) - the spring has just rushed through before my eyes. I have finally found a new studio (that I am looking foreward to share with you, as we get further in the process of opening this up) - and would like to give a big thanks to Statens Kunstfond / the Danish Arts Foundation, for supporting me with a working grant. This ables me to give more time in the studio and less hesitaiton towards the financial aspects of a project. I am honoured and proud that one of these fanzines are based on my solo exhibition from March this year, with a text written by Maria Lyngstad Willassen... ------------------ After weeks of travelling along the train tracks, through Russia, Mongolia, China, I flew from Shanghai to Tokyo - and arrived here in Shiro Oni Studio, on the countryside around two hours outside Tokyo. People are extremely friendly, the nature is calm, and the group of artists that will be working individually here, is the such lovely people (we met earlier for another residency in Denmark, and decided to work together again on the other side of the globe). The architecture and culture here is so beautiful, so precise and balanced, I don't know how one could ever make something that could ever be measured with the surroundings here. In a couple of weeks we will fire an anagama-kiln that is situated in the woods (the firing will take 90 hours and we will be working in shifts all day and night). I've been working on it for the last months, and sort of had an ongoing conversation with my self about what kind of qualities that materials have, that you cannot see with vision. Our bodily experience of things give us very complex information about how things are, and I guess I've been trying to figure out how to reach those other aspects that my body can catch unconsciously. All 14 artists equally shared a lump of clay, and Ingeborgs clay were put out on the window glass to form small peep-holes, through which the different pieces were narrated. August 2022 - 15. Januar 2023 Exhibited at “Prosjektrom Carl Berner”, driven by Norsk Billedkunstnerforbund. The exhibition is situated inside the metrostation “Carl Berners plass” in Oslo.&nbsp; Translated exhibition text :&nbsp; The time inside the project space, is detached from the rhythm of nature. Project space Carl Berner is shrouded in a deep red colour, and a fan-shaped sculpture is attached to the wall. With the help of a sensor, the viewer can set the fan in motion and activate a subtle airflow that spreads further into the room, where a number of sculptures are dispersed. Some of the materials attempt to catch the wind – raw silk in cobweb formations, blades of grass and plaited leaves resembling sails. Other sculptures appear more grounded. An oversized seed capsule has dumped onto the floor, and a plaster block exposes fossil-like prints of unknown creatures. One of the works develops as time passes, water evaporates, and a seed slowly unfolds. The focal point of the C A R R I E R S exhibition is areal seeds – seeds that use the wind to spread. There is something almost magical about seeds; they can do things that humans can only dream of. The seeds can escape the aging that other living creatures are subject to - they time travel. In 2007, a palm seed was found during an excavation at the Dead Sea in Israel. It was planted in the earth, and sprouted after lying dormant for 2,000 years. At that time there were large date palm forests along the Jordan River. Can the seed remember its childhood years? In the exhibition C A R R I E R S, artist Petra Dalström has collaborated with the author Cecilie Almberg Størkson. In their respective ways, they have investigated the poetic potential of the areal seeds. Dalström has created a series of sculptures in which she investigates the physical and sensory properties of areal seeds, also by trying to imitate their movements. Størkson has made a number of texts, and fragments from these can be read on some of the window sections of the exhibition. The texts deal with topics such as reproduction, and she links these topics to the nature of areal seeds. At the end of the exhibition period, there will be launched a publication based on the collaboration, where a longer text by Størkson will be combined with elements from the physical exhibition. Størkson will also read from the text at two different events, which will take place inside the exhibition space itself. The first reading was held on Saturday, 27th of August. The second reading will be held towards the end of the exhibition period, and the time will be announced via the channels of Norsk billedhoggerforbund. <img width="3000" height="2000" width_o="3000" Norway, to make an outdoor piece to stand outside the museum of Kabuso.&nbsp; There are copious amounts of rain on the west coast of Norway, and I’ve always wanted to create a work that is using the rain to generate a movement or a development. The rain is collected through a funnel made of ceramics, and drippes down into the ground, where a mechanism hits a bell once enough rain has come. If you stand in the rain and listen, a bell will chime once in a while. &nbsp; <img width="3000" height="2000" width_o="3000" height_o="2000" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/c4f71a499b2af1d51402a200c57dbe2a2409426fb1139e70b0e3444a7d8a100f/hela_low.jpg" data-mid="142959798" border="0" src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/c4f71a499b2af1d51402a200c57dbe2a2409426fb1139e70b0e3444a7d8a100f/hela_low.jpg" />In Japanese zen gardens, the presence of water is important and there are often different water mechanisms, which also create sound. This could be a "shishi odoshi", which is a kind of bamboo fountain. When it is filled up with water, it will tip and fall onto a rock with a loud "clack!”. Another garden instrument is the underground "suikinkutsu". Here you can not see the mechanism in itself, but you can hear the sound of water dropping in an underground cave. The line of work has sprung out from a longer research around Scandinavian copper mining and the historical use of soap stone. Metals and stones are often perceived as being seemingly hard and unworkable. But when I have engaged with them sculpturally, I’ve been struck by the fact that even this is relative. Mari Oseland wrote poems as a form of exhibition text, and during the exhibition period, there was also a sound performance by electronic musician Christian Dugstad and tuba player Heida Mobeck, where they played in dialogue with a suspended copper sculpture. On top of the mountain, there is a copper plate with a small mountain made of tin. When the candle is lit, the tin slowly melts, and will drop down three spouts on the copper plate, and rather drastically drip down the sides of the mountain. The method of using soap stone as mold material, was used by ancient scandinavian bonze workers. The installation is consisting of three different materials that is repeating the form of a snail shell, or a conch. The visitor is invited to drop water into the copper shape, with the help of a pipette, that is standing next to the work. The water is running through a small hole,&nbsp; lands on the top of the porcelaine conch. wool, plaster Sculpture for arches and chains, is a performative installation, using the phenomenon of chain curves, and the transformation of plaster, to form a fragile, yet solid structure.&nbsp; The work was produces with the hands of many, during SPIRE festival in August 2019. 100 liters of plaster was mixed together with the audience, and poored over a structure made of wool - for then to be pulled up and fixated in a big wooden structure.&nbsp; A thin cotton fabric is suspended outside of a door opening in the room, and there is a wooden plate lying on the floor below, covered until the edge with approximately 3 litres of water. Above this, there is a ceramic container filled with ice cubes, that slowly drip down on the water surface.
